Taliban rename Afghanistan as ‘Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan’; Air services were halted

Kabul: The Taliban changed the name of Afghanistan after seizing power. The Taliban have renamed the Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan instead of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. A Taliban spokesman confirmed this.

People are flocking to the capital, Kabul. Thousands are stranded at Kabul airport. They intend to leave the soil of Afghanistan as soon as possible. Meanwhile, flights were suspended due to the dire situation at the airport. The flight from Delhi to Kabul at 12.30 pm was also canceled. There were reports of gunfire at the airport and several people were injured.

The Taliban entered Kabul on Sunday and seized power. Taliban militants stormed the presidential palace after President Ashraf Ghani left Kabul.

The Twitter account of the Afghan embassy in Delhi has been hacked. Afghan embassy officials in India say they have lost control of their Twitter handle. Subsequently, messages insulting former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani appeared on Twitter’s official handle.
