Beijing: Earthquake hit southwestern China. Networks Center reported that 6.0-magnitude tremor has been recorded in China. Official news agency Xinhua reported 11 dead. 122 people were injured.
The quake struck at Sichuan Province around 10.55 pm local time. It is about 16 km deep underground. There were four further earthquakes struck in the region. The city of Yibin’s Chongqing and Gongxian counties are reported to be causing significant damage. Xinhua reported that buildings and homes in the city were damaged. Videos and pictures circulating on social media have been indicative of damage. Rescue operations are ongoing in the area. No further information has been released about the damages.
