Abuja: Disaster Management Minister Sadia Umar Farooq said that the floods in the country have sown a great disaster. The minister also said that some states did not make necessary preparations despite several warnings earlier. He added that the local administrations had been instructed to evacuate the people living in high-risk areas. This time, the worst flood the country has seen in decades. He said that more than 13 lakh people had to leave their homes and seek shelter in other places and more than 2 lakh houses were destroyed.
Meteorological centers say that the floods will continue till the end of November. Floods are severe in 27 out of 36 states.
