
Pathanamthitta: The Malayalam film industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor Santhosh Nair (65), who passed away on Tuesday. The actor suffered a fatal heart attack while undergoing treatment for critical injuries sustained in a severe road accident earlier in the day.
His wife, Subhashree, who was traveling with him, also sustained injuries in the crash and is currently receiving medical care.
Details of the Accident
The tragic incident occurred at around 6:15 AM on Tuesday at Enathu in the Pathanamthitta district.
- The Journey: Santhosh Nair and his wife were traveling from Thiruvananthapuram toward Kottayam. The actor was driving the vehicle.
- The Collision: Their Innova car collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
- Rescue Efforts: The impact of the crash was so severe that the car was completely mangled. Locals and rescue workers had to cut open the vehicle to pull the couple out.
- Medical Response: They were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Adoor. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Santhosh Nair suffered a heart attack while under treatment and breathed his last. The truck driver involved in the collision also sustained injuries.

Santhosh Nair leaves behind a rich legacy in Malayalam cinema, having been a familiar face to audiences for over four decades.

Born on November 12, 1960, in Thiruvananthapuram, Santhosh is the son of C.N. Kesavan Nair and P. Rajalakshmi Amma. During his academic years at MG College in Thiruvananthapuram, he was a junior to Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.
