Kochi: The fifth accused in actress Shamna Kasim threatening and blackmailing case, Abdul Salam, surrendered before the Ernakulam District Sessions Court. With this, the total number of arrests in the case was five.
Police have registered the arrests of four accused in the case of Shamna Kasim threatening to extort money. Rafeeq from Vadanapalli, Ramesh from Kadavannur, Sarath from Kaipamangalam, and Ashraf from Chettuwa were arrested. The gang that came to the actress’s house in the Maradu and threatened to ruin her career if she did not give money after filming a video of her home and surroundings. And, threatened to kill her. The accused contacted to the Shamna’s family in the name of a marriage proposal.
Shamna Kasim’s complaint was followed by another complaint from a young woman. According to police, there are 10 accused in both these cases. The main accused is yet to surrender.
Today the police have filed a human trafficking department against the accused in the blackmailing case. Three more cases have been registered in connection with the complaint that the young women were taken to work and imprisoned.
