
Thrissur: A massive explosion occurred at a fireworks manufacturing shed in Mundathikode, Thrissur, leaving several workers with burn injuries. The incident took place at a facility that was actively preparing fireworks for the world-renowned Thrissur Pooram festival.
According to reports, the blast completely destroyed the sample fireworks shed belonging to the Thiruvambady faction. At the time of the explosion, approximately 40 workers were present at the site. Many of them sustained burn injuries and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals.
Following the blast, huge plumes of smoke billowed into the sky, revealing the massive scale of the explosion. Emergency response teams, including multiple fire engines and ambulances, quickly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and douse the flames.
Authorities are expected to launch a probe to investigate potential safety lapses and protocol violations at the facility. The incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding the safety of workers in firecracker manufacturing units as preparations for the grand festival reach their final stages.
