New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi early Friday morning to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. Upon his arrival at the airport, President Putin was warmly received by the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh.
The Russian leader is on a packed three-day official visit to India, during which he will hold high-level bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and participate in key summit engagements.
President Putin and Prime Minister Modi are scheduled to meet for comprehensive bilateral discussions focusing on strengthening trade, energy, and defense ties between the two nations.
Both leaders will jointly visit the INNOPROM industrial exhibition, a trade platform jointly organized by the industry and trade ministries of India and Russia.
Later on Friday, Putin will address the plenary session of the BRICS Business Forum, bringing together business leaders and delegates from member nations.
The main proceedings of the 18th BRICS Summit will commence on Saturday under India’s rotating presidency. This year’s summit marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the BRICS bloc.
Member countries will deliberate on key global and regional issues, alongside strategies to deepen cooperation across:
- Political and security affairs
- Economic and financial partnerships
- Cultural and humanitarian exchanges
The three-day visit will culminate on Sunday with an expanded session involving heads of delegations from BRICS member states, partner countries, and international organizations, followed by the adoption of the final summit declaration.
