Thiruvananthapuram: The local body panchayat elections will be held in the last week of October. The polls will be based on social distance and, protocols due to COVID widening. Polling time will be extended by one hour. Voting begins at 7 am and ends at 6 pm.
Preparations for the elections at the government level have already begun. The draft voter list was published yesterday. The draft voter list has been published in the panchayat, village, block and district panchayat offices. There will be an opportunity to add a name to the list. The final ballot will be published in August. Reserved wards will change.
The notification is expected to be issued in August. Nominations will begin accepting from the last week of September. The campaign will get a month off. The election is scheduled for two phases in the last week of October. The elections are to be held in two days in North Kerala and South Kerala. The current governing body will expire on November 12.
