Trivandrum: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Kerala over the next four days (July 30 to August 2, 2026). The state is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, with isolated places likely to receive very heavy showers accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
The intensification of rainfall is attributed to an off-shore trough stretching from the south Gujarat coast to the north Kerala coast, along with a Deep Depression situated over western Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and southeastern Madhya Pradesh. Over the next 12 hours, the deep depression is expected to move westward, gradually weakening into a depression before tracking across Vidarbha and southern Madhya Pradesh toward the west-northwest.
