Twin murder; Three people are in custody

Kannur: Three persons are in custody in the case of the murder of two CPIM workers who questioned the sale of ganja in Kannur Thalassery by a drug mafia gang. Jackson, Farhan, and Naveen are in custody. All three are natives of Thalassery. The search is on for another accused Parai Babu. CPIM Natur branch committee member Shameer and CPIM activist Khalid were killed. Shanib was seriously injured in the attack by the drug mafia and is undergoing treatment

A group of drug mafia attacked three CPI(M) workers near Thalassery city center around 4 pm on Wednesday. Khalid, who was stabbed, died at Thalassery Cooperative Hospital and Shamir died at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Shamir has stated to the police that he was stabbed by a group of drug dealers, including Jackson and Parai Babu. Shameer’s son Shabeel was beaten up by Jackson near Nettur Chirakkavu on Wednesday afternoon when he questioned him about selling drugs.

Shameer, Khalid, and friends had come to know that Shabeel had been admitted to the cooperative hospital. The drug mafia called them to the road under the pretense of reconciliation. During the conversation, he took a knife from his hand and stabbed Khalid in the neck. Shameer and Shanib who tried to stop them were also attacked with deadly weapons. The country is reeling from the double murder committed by the drug mafia.
