Kumali: At least eight people died when the vehicle of Sabarimala pilgrims fell into a gorge near Idukki Kumily. One is in critical condition.
The accident happened around 11 pm last night. Ten people including a child were in the vehicle. The Tavera car in which the natives of Theni were traveling met with an accident while returning from the pilgrimage. Two people who were injured in the accident were admitted to Theni Medical College. One of them is in critical condition. The child who was in the group was admitted to a private hospital in Kumily.
The Kerala-Tamil Nadu police, fire force, and locals conducted a two-and-a-half-hour-long rescue operation. In the accident, seven people died on the spot.
