Thiruvananthapuram – Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth has been banned for three years by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA). The ban comes in the wake of controversial remarks made by Sreesanth regarding Sanju Samson’s exclusion from Kerala’s One-Day team and India’s Champions Trophy squad.
The KCA stated that Sreesanth’s comments were false and defamatory. The association also decided to issue a show-cause notice to Sanju Samson’s father in connection with the controversy.
Sreesanth had alleged that the Kerala Cricket Association played a role in Sanju Samson’s omission from the Indian Champions Trophy squad.
Following this, the KCA heavily criticized Sreesanth, pointing out that he has not yet been cleared of the spot-fixing allegations and was still given an opportunity to play in the Ranji Trophy.
Sreesanth is also a co-owner of the Kerala Cricket League franchise team, Kollam Aeries. In response to the controversy, show-cause notices were issued to Kollam Aeries, Sai Krishnan (team lead of Alappuzha Team Lead Contenders), and Alappuzha Ripples. However, as all of them responded satisfactorily to the notices, no further action was taken.
Additionally, the KCA general body decided to file a compensation claim against Reji Lukose and a presenter of 24 Channel for making baseless allegations regarding Sanju Samson.
