GURUVAYUR: On the auspicious day of Uthradam, hundreds of devotees gathered at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple to offer Kaazhchakula (plantain bunches) to Sree Guruvayurappan. Minister for Devaswom K. Muraleedharan, along with several prominent dignitaries and a vast throng of devotees, participated in the traditional offering. The rituals commenced around 7:00 AM near the golden flagstaff following the morning Sheeveli.
The ceremonial offerings began with the chief priest (Melsanthi), Brahmasree Thekkumparambath Manayil Narayanan Namboothiri, placing the first batch of Nenthrakula on a plantain leaf. Temple Uralan Brahmasree Mallissery Parameswaran Namboothiripad and Tantri Brahmasree P.C. Dinesan Namboothiripad guided the sacred proceedings.
Following the priests, Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan, Devaswom Chairman A.V. Gopinath, Devaswom Managing Committee members C. Manoj, Manoj B. Nair, and M.U. Shinija, Thrissur District Collector Shikha Surendran IAS, Administrator Hari Gopal S., Temple DAM M. Radha, and Administrative Division DAM Pramod Kalarikkal presented their offerings.
Shortly after, hundreds of devotees queueing for darshan offered their Kaazhchakula to the deity, seeking divine blessings.
A portion of the plantains offered today will be utilized to prepare Pazham Pradhaman, a special traditional payasam served during the grand Thiruvonam feast tomorrow. Temple authorities announced that the remaining plantains, after meeting temple requirements, will be auctioned off to devotees.
