K-Rail stone laying stopped; GPS system for social impact assessment

Thiruvananthapuram: Laying stones for K-Rail has been Stopped. The order was issued by the Revenue Department. It was also decided to bring in a GPS for social impact assessment. The order was issued by the Revenue Department at the request of the Kerala Railway Development Corporation.

The order says that the stone should not be used to conduct a social impact study, but should instead be surveyed using a GPS and talk to people who are losing their homes and that the survey should be continued with the consent of the householders after the people’s representatives and the political leadership have reached a direct agreement with the householders. The decision was made to virtually pave the way for the K-Rail to pass through GPS.
