Kochi: Another gold rush at Nedumbassery airport. Jewelery worth Rs 33 lakh was seized. A five-member group from Dubai was caught by customs.
The gold smuggling took place under the leadership of Sadiq, a native of Kozhikode. Customs seized 27 gold rings and four gold necklaces hidden in a key chain. It was hidden in the key ring. After finding something unusual in the luggage, it was found to be gold when the keys were checked. Gold was seized from many passengers in the past few days.
