Kozhikode: Customs seized the gold hidden in the seat of the Indigo flight from Dubai. Gold was found hidden under the rear seat during the inspection conducted following a tip-off. 395 grams of gold worth Rs 22.44 lakh was seized.
The person who smuggled the gold has not been caught. Customs said efforts are on to trace him.
But the customs have got a clue as to who smuggled the gold. A large security system has been put in place in Karipur to prevent gold smuggling. And yet people arrive with gold. A month ago, the police had seized the gold that had been taken out of the airport after the eyes of the customs.
