Kozhikode: Bus driver Sumesh’s license was suspended for using a mobile phone while driving. The suspension is for one month. Kozhikode Farooq Joint RTO office recorded the statement of the driver and issued a show cause notice.
He has also been instructed to attend a road safety awareness class at the Department of Motor Vehicles for a week. It has been decided to tighten the inspection on the roads including in the coming days.
The bus driver on the Kozhikode Parappanangadi route drove the bus dangerously. The action was taken by Joint RTO Taju A Bakar based on the investigation report of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Sarath. Driver Sumesh was talking on his mobile phone for several kilometers while driving the bus.
The driver called eight times in a span of 7 km. Footage of this was also released. Samsam bus plying the Kozhikode Parappanangadi route had been caught earlier by the traffic police. A fine of Rs 2,000 was also levied for serious violations of the law.
