Kochi: Suspicion mounts over former Miss Kerala death case. Roy Vayalatt, owner of the No. 18 hotel in Fort Kochi, said police that, hid the CCTV footage for fear of losing the hotel’s license. Roy said police chased the car to warn him not to drive under the influence of alcohol. Before the accident, the hotel owner handed over to the police the DVR containing the CCTV footage of the hotel where the DJ party was held. But not all DVRs have been handed over. Footage of the party hall and the hotel parking lot is not available. Police have asked Roy Valyatt, owner of Hotel No. 18, to produce all DVRs.
Roy was not present, although police had issued several notices after the accident raised suspicion. He arrived at the police station after being warned by the police that he would be arrested. The DGP had sought an explanation from the commissioner for delaying the action. Roy was issued a notice to appear today following a warning from the DGP. There were rumors that Roy had arrived at the scene of the accident where the models died. Police are investigating the incident.
Miss Kerala Ansi Kabir and runner – up Anjana Shajan were killed in a road accident while returning from a DJ party at a hotel owned by Roy. Hotel owner Roy was in the hall where the DJ party took place. According to the police, the hotel owner had a clear idea of the incident which caused the girls to leave the hotel at night on the day of the incident. Police said race was the cause of the accident. The police concluded that the race was based on the statement of Shaiju, who was driving an Audi car following the models’ car. However, Shaiju told police that he went after them to warn them not to go too fast.
On the morning of November 1, an uncontrolled car hit a tree in the median on the National Highway near Chakkaraparambu, Palarivattom. The group was on their way to Edappally from Vyttila. The accident happened when the car swerved to the left to avoid hitting the bike. Ansi Kabir, a native of Attingal, Miss Kerala 2019, and Dr. Anjana Shajan, a runner – up, and native of Mala, died on the spot. KA Mohammad Aashiq, who was undergoing treatment for serious injuries, later died. There is a contradiction in the statements of the driver of the car and two others. According to the police, they will be questioned again.
