Thiruvananthapuram: The Met Office has warned of heavy rains in the state.This is against the backdrop of extremely low pressure forming in the Bay of Bengal and entering the coast. In Kerala, Yellow Alert has been declared in all the districts except Thiruvananthapuram.

Isolated showers are likely in Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts during the next three hours. Extreme winds of up to 40 km per hour are also expected. Yellow Alert in 13 districts. The alert was issued for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.

Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall over the extremely low-pressure areas of southern India. With the onset of westerly winds, more rains are expected in Kerala as well. It is suggested that a similar alert be given to orange alert in hilly and forested areas with a yellow alert. The Met Office said there was a possibility of strong thunder and wind.
