Chance of strong winds and thundershowers in the coming hours in the state: Extreme alert announced

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a possibility of strong winds and thundershowers in the coming hours in the state. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast 40 km in strong winds and heavy rains will hit in the next three hours, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts. The Meteorological Department has warned people to be vigilant.
The Met Office has forecast heavy rains in isolated parts of the state for the next five days. Following this, a yellow alert was declared in Idukki, Ernakulam, and Wayanad districts on Monday. Isolated showers of 64.5 to 115.5 mm are forecast in 24 hours. Isolated winds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected in isolated places till Sunday, the Met Office said.
