New Delhi: The police registered an arrest in the incident of insulting a foreign woman during Holi celebrations. The police recorded the arrest of 3 people, including a minor.
The incident took place in Delhi’s Paharganj. The youths who were celebrating Holi sprinkled colored powder on the foreign woman and touched her body in a way that caused discomfort. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, there were protests from various quarters.
The police were not serious enough to file a case in the first instance. Initially, the police’s position was that they had not received any complaints about any foreign woman being insulted during the Holi celebrations. The police started investigating the incident when there was a strong protest and an order of the Women’s Commission was issued.
