Itanagar: The two pilots missing after an Indian Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter crashed near Mandal Hills in Arunachal Pradesh have been confirmed dead.
Following the accident, the Indian Army and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) police conducted a search at the spot.
“Both the pilots involved in the accident lost their lives,” military officials said.
Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO, Guwahati, said the helicopter reported losing contact with the air traffic controller around 9:15 am on Thursday. The copter crashed near Mandalay, west of Bomdila.
Authorities lost contact with the military helicopter on its way from Senge village to Misamari and could not be traced. Around 12:30 pm, villagers from Bangjalep under Dirang police station reported that they found the crashed helicopter.
Officials said bad weather was the cause of the accident and further investigation is underway.
