Chennai: A Malayali attacked the gatekeeper at Tenkasi Pavoorchatram. Anish, a native of Pathanapuram, was arrested by the railway police. The response came from the Red Fort. The accused is a paint worker in Tenkasi. The railway police informed the media that a similar case is pending against the accused in Kollam Kunnicode station limits. A 20-member team headed by Railway DSP Ponnuswamy is investigating the case.
A woman from Kollam, who was on duty at the Tenkasi Pavurchatram railway gate, was attacked on Thursday night. The assailant arrived when the employee on duty at the railway gate was phoning home. He hit the woman on the face with a stone and dragged her along the railway tracks.
Meanwhile, the accused brutally beat the woman and tried to sexually assault her. But when the woman screamed during the attack, the assailant ran away from the scene.
