Sugandha Giri tree cutting case; Suspension of officials frozen

Kalpetta: Suspension of DFO frozen in Wayanad Sugandhagiri logging case. The Forest Minister has temporarily frozen the suspension of three forest department officials, including South Wayanad DFO Shajna Karim, as the action will not stand in court without seeking an explanation from the officials.

The vigilance wing of the forest department investigated the case and submitted a report. In the report, it was found that the officials of the forest department had failed, and before taking further action, it was also requested to get a written explanation from the officials. But this did not happen. The suspension was quickly withdrawn after the government received legal advice that if it proceeded with the case without seeking an explanation, it would not stand in court.
