Delhi: The Joint Parliamentary Committee approved the Waqf Act Amendment Bill. 16 MPs took a stand in favor of the bill. 10 opposed. The amendments suggested by the opposition parties were rejected. The opposition accused the chairman of preparing the final report without being ready for discussion. Chairman Jagadambika Pal announced that the report will be submitted soon including the amendments suggested by the ruling party.
The opposition also raised strong objections in the final meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Act Amendment. The main allegation of the opposition was that the final report was being prepared without being ready for discussion. NDA ally parties JDU and Telugu Desam Party demanded changes in some provisions. However, Chairman Jagadambika Pal clarified that there is no change in the stand that the report will be submitted in the budget session itself.
