Mumbai: In a major blow to the faction led by NCP founder Sharad Pawar, the Election Commission has declared the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP as the real faction political party. As Ajit Pawar has the majority of MLAs in the assembly, the party and the party’s clock symbol have been allotted to Ajit Pawar’s faction by the Election Commission.
Sharad Pawar has been asked to choose a name for his faction in view of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. They have been asked to inform the election body about the name and symbol of their faction by 3 pm on February 7.
With this, the Election Commission resolved the dispute in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). After more than 10 hearings spanning more than 6 months, the verdict was in favor of the faction led by Ajit Pawar.
