Salem: Following the release of water from the Mettur Dam, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay paid a visit to a farmer’s house in the Chinnakavur area while returning to Salem. During his visit, Vijay interacted with the family members and gifted them silk dhotis and sarees.
He inquired about their livelihood and farming activities before taking his leave. In a heartwarming moment, an elderly woman (paatti) from the farmer’s family walked hand-in-hand with Vijay to bid him farewell. Encouraged by Vijay, she also smiled and waved to the gathering crowd alongside him.
Before departing, CM Vijay took off the high-end sunglasses he was wearing and placed them on the elderly woman. Delighted by the gesture, she expressed her happiness to the media. Intrigued by the special gift, local youths in the neighborhood gathered around her to try on the glasses and take photos.
According to reports circulating on social media, the luxury sunglasses gifted by Vijay are estimated to be worth between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.50 lakh. On his way to the Salem airport following the visit, Chief Minister Vijay also stopped to interact with other women working in nearby agricultural fields to learn about their concerns and living conditions.
