A huge setback for AAP in Delhi. After 27 years, BJP has seized power at the Centre with an absolute majority. Prominent leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have accepted defeat. Congress has also been reduced to zero this time.
The national capital has changed its mind. AAP’s hat-trick rule is over. The National Capital is now in the hands of BJP. BJP returns to power in Delhi after 27 years. Wins 48 out of 70 seats. AAP’s victory is limited to 22 seats. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurav Bhardwaj, Somnath Bharti, and other key leaders of AAP lost.
Atishi, who was the Chief Minister, barely made it. BJP’s Parvez Sahib Singh defeated Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. BJP’s Satish Upadhyay defeated AAP leader Somnath Bharti in Malviya Nagar. BJP’s Shikha Roy defeated Saurabh Bhardwaj in Greater Kailash and BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwa defeated Manish Sisodia in Jangpura constituency.
Congress, on the other hand, was limited to zero this time too. The Congress, which has not won a single seat in the last 10 years, increased its voting percentage from four to 6.37. The Aam Aadmi Party, which had won 53.57 percent of the votes in 2020, got 43.56 percent of the votes this time. The BJP increased its vote share from 38.51 percent to 45.91 percent. The Aam Aadmi camp was in a situation where it could not accept defeat.
Aam Aadmi Party President Arvind Kejriwal said that we accept the mandate of the people with humility and will work as a constructive opposition. He congratulated the BJP on the victory. He hoped that the BJP would fulfill all the promises made to the people. Kejriwal said that in the last 10 years, we have done a lot of work in health, education and infrastructure.
