New Delhi: Compensation cess levied along with Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been extended till March 2026. The government issued the notification in a hurry before the end of June. With this, the cess collection will continue for another four years.
The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, decided to continue the collection till March 2026 to repay the loans taken due to declining revenue in the last two financial years.
