ASI Tika Ram and three were shot dead in the running train by a police constable, Chetan Kumar Choudhary.
Four persons including an Assistant Sub-inspector were shot dead by a Railway Protection Force(RPF) constable in a running Jaipur – Mumbai Central Express train near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra.
“An RPF Constable opened fire inside a moving Jaipur Express Train after it crossed Palghar Station. He shot one RPF ASI and three other passengers and jumped out of the train near Dahisar Station. The accused Constable has been detained along with his weapon. More details awaited” stated Western Railways.
This terrible incident took place on the B5 AC coach of the Jaipur Express train (12956) around 5.23 am. With an automatic weapon, the constable shot his senior colleague and three other passengers on the train and pulled the alarm chain and got down near Dahisar. The constable along with the weapon was caught at Mira Road by police with the support of Government Railway police and RPF Officials. The reason behind these terrific shootings was still unidentified. Officials include that the said Constable’s mental health condition was not okay due to restlessness and further he was asked to take rest and after that, he said that he was okay.
An RPF assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and a pantry car worker are among the four killed. The dead bodies were deported from the train at Borivali station and sent to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital at Kandivali.
Officials said that “It was confirmed that CT Chetan on escort duty fired on an escort in charge ASI. The train has arrived at Borivali and as per advance information casualty of three civilians has also been reported, in addition to ASI. The said constable has been caught. DCP North GRP has been informed,”
DRM Neeraj Verma said, “This is an unfortunate incident. We are also examining the witnesses. We are trying to investigate from all angles.” The Western Railways handed over an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the family of ASI Tika Ram.
