Thrissur: African swine fever has been confirmed in Ward 6 of Mulankunnathukavu panchayat, Thrissur. The confirmation came after tests conducted at the NIHSD lab in Bhopal. The Animal Husbandry Department has begun containment measures with a rapid response team.
Authorities have declared a one-kilometer radius around the affected farm as an infected zone and a 10-kilometer surveillance zone. Distribution of pork and transportation of pigs have been restricted. Local shops selling pork have also been brought under regulatory control following instructions from the District Collector.
