Sudan’s PM resigns amid mounting people protests

sss

Khartoum: The Prime Minister of Sudan has resigned following a strong people uprising demanding a complete end to military rule in the country. Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok has resigned after a series of power-sharing agreements with the military. The people demanded the complete abolition of the powers vested in the army and political rule. Two people were killed in protests the previous day. On October 25, the army overthrew the government and seized power. Hamdok has been under house arrest ever since. There was also widespread international outcry against military action. Hamdok was later re-elected prime minister in a deal with General Abdul Fattah, the army chief. Hamdok said he had tried his best to prevent the country from slipping into disaster, but all consensus efforts had failed. More than 40 people have been killed so far in protests against the power-sharing deal.
