Cyclone warning issued in Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast; Chance of heavy rain in Kerala too

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast that the extremely low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will turn into a cyclone this evening. Named Gulab, the cyclone is expected to move westwards and reach the Andhra-Odisha coast by tomorrow evening, according to the Central Meteorological Department’s Cyclone Observatory.

Although Kerala is not in the path of the cyclone, there is a possibility of strong winds and active monsoon along the coast of Kerala. A yellow alert has been issued till September 28 in various districts due to the possibility of isolated heavy rains.

Fishermen are not allowed to go fishing off the coast of Kerala Lakshadweep on September 26 and 27. Government agencies and the public should be vigilant in anticipation of possible landslides and landslides if isolated heavy rains occur on consecutive days.
