The court ruled that Aadhaar should not be mandatory for vaccination

New Delhi: Meghalaya High Court rules Aadhaar card should not be made mandatory for getting the covid vaccine. The High Court pointed out to the state government that the government had accepted several other documents as identification documents for receiving the vaccine.

Eligible people in many parts of Meghalaya, especially in rural areas, often complain that they are not getting the vaccine. They are being denied the vaccine just because they do not have an Aadhaar card. Even though the central government has approved many other identification documents besides the Aadhaar card to get vaccinated. Therefore, Chief Justice Bishwant Somadar and Justice HS Thankhvi said they were requesting the state government not to force Aadhaar to provide the vaccine.
