Kochi: The NIA in Kochi will consider the bail pleas of nine accused, including Swapna Suresh and Sarith, seeking bail in the gold smuggling case through Thiruvananthapuram airport. The main argument of the accused is that there are no serious findings against them in the charge sheet filed by the NIA. Earlier, Swapna Suresh was granted bail in customs and ED cases
Defendants have informed the court that there is not enough evidence for the existence of UAPA in the case and that the High Court has pointed out that this is only a customs case. Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair were arrested by the NIA on July 12, 2020.
