Pune Serum Institute fire

Pune: Five people have been killed in a fire on the campus of the Pune Serum Institute, which manufactures the Covid vaccine in the country. The fire broke out at an establishment located in Manjari, Pune, on Wednesday afternoon. The fire broke out on the fifth floor of a newly constructed building. Authorities confirmed the deaths of five people, including a woman.

At the same time, vaccines and the vaccine manufacturing plant are safe. The fire did not occur at the Covid vaccine plant. Officials said the plant has no direct connection to the building and will not interfere with vaccine production.

Officials said most people were evacuated when the fire started. “Four people were trapped when the fire broke out. Three of the four were rescued by our team and efforts are continuing to evacuate the fourth person safely,” said an official overseeing the rescue operation.
