Thiruvananthapuram: Strict control on setting off fireworks on Diwali day in the state. Fireworks will be allowed only from 8 to 10 pm as part of the festivities. Christmas and New Year occasions will be from 11.55 am to 12.30 pm only.
The Home Department has strongly advised that only green crackers (Green Crackers) be sold and used this time. These are made without barium nitrate and therefore have low levels of air pollution. The order follows the recommendations of the National Green Tribunal and the State Pollution Control Board.
