Kochi: The High court will consider Swapna Suresh’s anticipatory bail plea in the gold smuggling case. Meanwhile, the NIA has announced that they have taken over the gold smuggling case. The Center’s lawyer has informed the HC.
Swapna said in the anticipatory bail plea that the customs are ready to defend the accused based on media reports. According to Swapna, the customs officer was called after Attache asked him to inquire about the delay in getting the diplomatic bag containing the gold.
Customs will defend anticipatory bail plea in the High Court. Customs says Swapna’s anticipatory bail application itself is a confession. Customs will mainly ask the court why Attache called Swapna to get rid of the diplomatic bag and why Swapna called the customs officials.
Meanwhile, the NIA said it was a case of “national security and financial security”. Internationally connected rackets are in the case. The NIA says it is under investigation, including terrorism, and suspects in arms smuggling. UAPA may be charged in the case.
