Inter-state bus strike to continue

strike - Kerala9.com

Thiruvananthapuram: Bus owners say they will not withdraw from the strike announced by inter-state buses. Discussions with Transport Minister AK Sasheendran in Thiruvananthapuram have failed. The bus owners have confirmed that the strike would continue. Bus owners said it was unaffordable to be fined for permit violations.

The Minister said that the inspection of Operation Night Riders would continue. KSRTC will do more to deal with the private bus strike.

The Transport Minister said that inspection and penalties for violation of interstate buses would not be stopped. Buses with contract carriage permits are easily available at other locations. Bus owners said that fines in the same permit would be a big financial burden in Kerala. In case the Central Government amends the Motor Vehicle Act, then the owners of the buses would be required to stop the permit violation.
