16 Maoists were shot dead

Bhubaneswar: Sixteen Maoists were shot dead by the CRPF in an encounter on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. The encounter took place in the Kularighat reserve forest in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district on Tuesday morning.

CRPF operation is going on here. It is reported that the death toll of Maoists is likely to rise further. Odisha and Chhattisgarh state forces are also participating in the operation.

The most wanted Maoist commander, Jai Ram (Chalpati), whose head was worth Rs 1 crore, is said to be among the dead. The operation started on Monday morning to stop the movement of Maoists through the border areas resulted in the encounter on Tuesday.
