New Delhi: In 2024, the central government estimates that Kerala has the highest number of Covid-19 deaths in the country. According to the documents submitted by Union Health Minister JP Nadda in the Lok Sabha, 66 people died due to covid in Kerala last year.
Last year, 5597 people were confirmed to have covid in Kerala. According to the data of the central government, 516 deaths were reported in Kerala in 2023.
Kerala has reported the most number of covid deaths, but Karnataka has reported the highest number of covid cases. In 2024, 7252 covid cases were reported here. It is estimated that 39 covid deaths occurred in Karnataka last year and 35 covid deaths occurred in Maharashtra last year. 5658 covid cases were reported in Maharashtra during this period.
Only very limited covid tests are being done in the country right now. Not everyone who comes to the hospital with fever is required to undergo an RTPCR test. Currently, people with severe respiratory problems are being tested for Covid-19.
The IMA said that although cases of Covid-19 are still being reported, the average immunity of the community as a whole has improved and the difficulties caused by the disease are decreasing.
