ISIS connection: Aligarh University students arrested

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested six youths linked to the Islamic State from different parts of the state.  The six are activists of Students of Aligarh University (SAMU), a student organization of Aligarh Muslim University.  Information about the four arrested persons has been released.  They are Rakib Inam, Naved Siddiqui, Muhammad Noman and Muhammad Nasim.  UP ATS said that they had planned a large-scale terrorist attack in the country.

Police also said that SAMU meetings have become a new platform for IS recruitment.  When the National Investigation Agency interrogated Rizwan and Shanawaz, who were arrested in connection with the Pune IS module, UP ATS learned that many students of Aligarh Muslim University were spreading IS ideas through social media and were connected with the Indian network of IS.
