Bus staff should not discriminate against students for providing concessions; High Court

Kochi:  High Court says bus staff should not discriminate against students for giving concessions. Students should be accorded the same treatment as other passengers. The court asked the police to ensure that there are no law and order problems. The court also observed that discrimination by bus staff against students often leads to violation of law and order situations.

Bus concession fare revision is a matter of government policy. The High Court said that issues including reforms should be considered jointly by the government and student organizations. The High Court’s reference is in an order related to a criminal case against bus employees.
