rummy ban

Chennai:  Governor RN Ravi approves bill to ban online rummy in Tamil Nadu. The governor has signed a bill that makes it punishable by three months imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5000 for playing online rummy. The Governor signed this bill after the Assembly passed a resolution against the Governor.

The bill is against online gambling. The governor’s signing of the bill comes a few weeks after on  March 23, the Tamil Nadu cabinet headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin again passed a bill to ban these games in the state.

Governor RN Ravi sent back the bill on March 8 stating that the state government had no power to enact such legislation. Later, he signed the bill after many controversies and criticisms.
