MG University Teacher Recruitment; The Supreme Court stayed the High Court’s order to revise the criteria

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the High Court’s order to frame new criteria for the appointment of teachers in the Mahatma Gandhi University interview.

A bench comprising Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala issued the stay order on a petition filed by the university after the High Court quashed the 50 marks for the interview for the post of Hindi Assistant Professor.

The university’s notification stipulated that a maximum of 50 marks, 10 marks for teaching aptitude, 20 marks for research aptitude, and 10 marks for subject knowledge will be awarded for interview for the post of Hindi Assistant Professor in colleges under the university. The High Court, which quashed this, had directed that a new standard be issued within a month. Following this, the university approached the Supreme Court.

In the petition submitted to the Supreme Court, it was pointed out that the process of appointment of teachers is an academic matter and the court should avoid interference in it and the university has the power to determine the norms.

Senior advocate Maninder Singh, witness Sakshi Kakar, and Surin George Ipe, standing consul of the university in the High Court, appeared on behalf of the university.
