Contents with national interest should be broadcast; Center’s direction to channels

New Delhi: The central government has directed the channels to include contents with the national interest. The central government has also directed that topics of public interest should be telecasted. It is also suggested that a 30-minute program slot should be allotted for this purpose. The Union Cabinet has approved the proposals put forward by the Union Ministry of Information and Communications regarding channel uplinking and down-linking guidelines.

This order deals mainly with four subjects. Three of them are technical subjects. These instructions deal with the issue of permission related to the provision of live coverage and the use of technical equipment, including DSNG. As part of the last proposal, it is specified that the contents dealing with social issues and national issues should be aired for half an hour daily.
