Dhaka: At least 16 killed in Cyclone Sitrang in coastal areas of Bangladesh. Millions of people were displaced. About one crore households in 15 coastal villages were left without electricity. Schools in the south and southwest were closed.
More people died due to falling trees. Two people drowned in the boat. People could be evacuated before the cyclone reached the coast, so a major disaster was avoided.
