Thiruvananthapuram: The Transport Commissioner has directed to cancel the driving license of those who attach a camera to their helmet while driving a two-wheeler for three months.
A fine of Rs.1000 will also be levied. The action is taken in the background of accidents caused by the use of cameras attached to helmets while driving.
It is against the law to modify the helmet. The camera is attached by piercing the outer side of the helmet. This will destroy the safety of the helmet shield. The helmet design is designed to slide when falling on the floor for safety.
This goes away when the camera stand is attached. All components of the helmet, including the chinstrap and inner cushion, must meet the specified standards. Altering it is also illegal. All two-wheeler riders above the age of four are required to wear a safety helmet.
