Kerala Cricket Association Lifts 3-Year Ban on S Sreesanth After Unconditional Apology

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major development for Kerala cricket, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has officially lifted the three-year ban imposed on former Indian international cricketer S. Sreesanth. The decision comes after the veteran pacer tendered an official, unconditional apology to the association for his past remarks.

The decision was finalized during a KCA Special General Body meeting held today, July 1, 2026. After a detailed discussion regarding Sreesanth’s letter of regret, the board unanimously decided to revoke the suspension with immediate effect.

Why Was Sreesanth Banned by the KCA?

The controversy dates back to May last year, just ahead of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) matches. Sreesanth had publicly leveled serious allegations against the KCA for the exclusion of fellow Kerala batsman Sanju Samson from the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy.

Taking strong objection to his public outburst, the KCA slammed a three-year disciplinary ban on the former World Cup winner.

KCA’s Warning on Future Conduct: While the association accepted Sreesanth’s apology and lifted the ban, the Special General Body issued a strict warning. The KCA noted that any repeat of such disciplinary violations in the future will attract severe punitive action.

Boost for Kerala Cricket League (KCL) Season 3

The lifting of the ban serves as a massive relief for Sreesanth’s off-field cricket ventures. He is now fully cleared to continue his role as the co-owner of the Aries Kollam Sailors franchise in the upcoming Kerala Cricket League (KCL) Season 3.

Due to the sudden ban last year, Sreesanth was forced to distance himself from team operations right before the tournament commenced. With his suspension now overturned, the former speedster is expected to return to the dugout and spearhead the Kollam franchise’s management this season.
