PM Modi Meets Google CEO Sundar Pichai Ahead of India AI Impact Summit 2026

NEW DELHI: Strengthening India’s position as a global leader in the tech landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai today at Hyderabad House. The meeting took place ahead of the high-profile India AI Impact Summit 2026, where Pichai is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on February 20.

Focus on “AI for Humanity” The discussions between the Prime Minister and the Google chief centered on advancing global cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to drive social transformation. The meeting aligns with India’s vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (Welfare and Happiness for All), emphasizing the responsible and ethical deployment of AI for the benefit of humanity.

A Landmark Event for the Global South The India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20, marks a significant milestone as the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South. The event has attracted a massive international audience, including:

  • Representatives from over 110 countries.
  • Delegates from 30 international organizations.
  • Around 20 Heads of State or Government.
  • Approximately 45 international ministers.

Sundar Pichai’s Keynote and Vision Following the meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office shared highlights of their discussion on its official channels. Sundar Pichai, who arrived in India earlier this week, expressed his excitement about being back in the country. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he noted the “warm welcome” and praised the progress India is making in the AI sector.

Pichai’s upcoming keynote is expected to outline Google’s future investments in India’s AI ecosystem and the company’s commitment to supporting the “Digital India” initiative through advanced machine learning and cloud infrastructure.

As the summit continues, New Delhi remains the focal point for policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders to deliberate on the future of technology and its impact on the global economy.
